Download and Install ARUP Consult® Directly from www.arupconsult.com

The content of ARUP Consult is 3 MB or less. The PDA software for the downloadable channel takes 1 MB or less.

Note: Your handheld device must be connected to your computer and turned on.

  1. Click ARUP Consult Downloadable Channel
  2. Create an account with ARUP Consult
    1. Select New Account Registration (upper left side of screen)
    2. Select a language preference and click Next
    3. Choose the operating system that runs on your device and click Next
    4. Select Click here to save the M-Business Client Software to your hard disk
  3. Download the M-Business Client Software
    1. Choose Run
      Note: A security warning may require selecting Run again to continue.
    2. Click Next on the Welcome page
    3. Click Yes if you accept the terms of the license agreement
    4. Click Next to install the M-Business Client
      Note: Click Browse if you want to install the M-Business Client in a folder that is not the default.
    5. When prompted, check your handheld device to see if additional steps are needed for the installation, then click OK
    6. Click Finish when the installation is complete
      Note: If your device is a Palm you may need to click OK to agree to the installation of the M-Business Client when your Palm is synchronized.
    7. Click Next to continue
    8. Click Next again
  4. Create an account with the M-Business Client
    1. Working from the Web display on your PC, enter user name, credentials, institution and password to create your user account. Remember your password.
    2. Click Next to continue
  5. Configure the M-Business Client with your PDA
    1. Click Configure Connection (do not click Next) to configure your device with the server
    2. Click Next in the "Add M-Business Server" box
    3. If prompted, select your device and click Next
    4. Click Next to test the network connection
    5. Click Done when you get an "autodetection was successful" message
    6. Click Finish to continue
  6. Return to ARUP Consult
    1. Click Next on the ARUP Consult page to continue
      Note: You may see a message that says “No Groups exist for you to join.” This is expected; ignore the message.
    2. Click Next (this completes the registration process)
    3. Select Logout (upper left side of screen, bottom of list)
  7. Synchronize your handheld device and launch ARUP Consult
    Note: It might be necessary to manually resynchronize before ARUP Consult will launch (see the instructions below). This will be necessary if, for instance, you receive a message telling you that you have no subscribed channels.
    1. On your handheld device, tap the M-Business Client icon (or the word "Start") to launch ARUP Consult
    2. After the first launch, an ARUP Consult icon is displayed. Both the M-Business Client icon and the ARUP Consult icon will launch ARUP Consult.
      Note: If tapping the icon does not take you to ARUP Consult, resynchronize your device

Ongoing Synchronization

Synchronize regularly to ensure that you have the most recent content. New content for ARUP Consult is released approximately every two months.

For many users, the content for ARUP Consult will automatically load when the handheld device is synchronized with the computer. (It will be evident as you watch the status of the synchronization.)

However, for some users the content will not load automatically when handheld device is synchronized. If you do not see evidence that ARUP Consult is being updated during synchronization, you should perform a manual synchronization periodically, as follows (non-wireless devices should be connected to your computer first):

For Pocket PC devices

  1. Tap ARUP Consult to open the application.
  2. Tap on Tools menu at the bottom of screen.
  3. Select Sync.

For Palm OS devices

  1. Tap ARUP Consult to open the application.
  2. Tap on title bar at the top of the screen.
  3. Select Sync.

If the above instructions don't synchronize your device, try the following:

  1. On your desktop, open the Programs folder
  2. Open M-Business Connect
  3. Select the correct server for your device and double click
  4. Under Connection Options, select Refresh all content at next sync
